- La Konvencio pri la Kontinentbreto estis internacia traktato kreita por kodigi la regulojn de internacia juro rilate al kontinentbretoj. La traktato, post validigo la 10-an de junio 1964, establis la rajtojn de suverena ŝtato pri la kontinentbreto ĉirkaŭante ĝin, se tie estu ajna. La traktato estis unu el tri pri kiu oni ekkonsentis ĉe la unua Konvencio de Unuiĝintaj Nacioj pri Marjuro (angla mallongigo : UNCLOS I) . Ĝi poste estis anstataŭita de nova interkonsento atingita en 1982 ĉe UNCLOS III. - The Convention on the Continental Shelf was an international treaty created to codify the rules of international law relating to continental shelves. The treaty, after entering into force 10 June 1964, established the rights of a sovereign state over the continental shelf surrounding it, if there be any. The treaty was one of three agreed upon at the first United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS I). It has since been superseded by a new agreement reached in 1982 at UNCLOS III. The treaty dealt with seven topics: the regime governing the superjacent waters and airspace; laying or maintenance of submarine cables or pipelines; the regime governing navigation, fishing, scientific research and the coastal state's competence in these areas; delimitation; tunneling. Het werd op 29 april 1958 overeengekomen in Genève tijdens de eerste zeerecht-conferentie van de Verenigde Naties, UNCLOS I, en trad in werking op 10 juni 1964 nadat het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 11 mei als tweeëntwintigste staat had geratificeerd.Het verdrag werd in 1966 door Nederland (Koninkrijk) geratificeerd.
