- Der Konstantin-Rubel (russ. Константиновский рубль) ist die seltenste russische Münze. Der Konstantin-Rubel ist ein russischer Proberubel von 1825 mit dem Kopfbild des Großfürsten Konstantin Pawlowitsch. Der Großfürst ist der älteste Bruder und eigentliche Nachfolger des Zaren Alexander I. (1801–1825). Der Rubel sollte im Petersburger Münzhof geprägt werden. Anlass war die Ausrufung von Konstantin Pawlowitsch Romanow zum Kaiser am 9. Dezember 1825, obwohl dieser bereits vorher der Nachfolge entsagt hatte und den Thron nicht bestieg. Der Thronverzicht beruhte auf einen geheimen Familienvertrag von 1819. Nachdem das bekannt wurde, stellte man die Prägung nach den Probeabschlägen sofort ein. Die Münzstempel schnitt der Medailleur Jakob Jakoblewitsch Reichel (1778–1856). Es sind fünf Exemplare mit geprägtem Rand und drei mit glattem Rand bekannt. Der Rubel besteht aus Silber und wiegt 20,73 Gramm. Je ein Exemplar der Münze befindet sich im Moskauer Historischen Museum, in der Sankt Petersburger Eremitage und im Washingtoner Smithsonian American Art Museum. Die übrigen Exemplare sind in Privatbesitz. Im Januar 2004 in einer Auktion in New York erzielte der Rubel 603 750,- US-Dollar (einschließlich Aufgeld). (de)
- The Constantine ruble is a rare silver coin of the Russian Empire bearing the profile of Constantine, the brother of emperors Alexander I and Nicholas I. It was prepared to be manufactured at the Saint Petersburg Mint during the brief Interregnum of 1825 but has never been minted in numbers and never circulated in public. The fact of its existence, classified in Russia until 1886, leaked into European press in 1857. According to , there are eight genuine Constantine rubles of two different types. Five are proof coins complete with edge lettering. A hypothetical sixth coin of this type was probably minted in December 1825 and disappeared without trace. Three coins of the so-called Schubert ruble type have no edge lettering. They are, most likely, intermediate work-in-progress proofs illegally removed from the Mint. Three Constantine rubles are currently preserved at the Hermitage Museum and the State Historical Museum in Russia and the Smithsonian Institution in the United States. The Hermitage also possesses the three genuine sets of press dies, in different stages of completion, seventeen tin work-in-progress samples and Jacob Reichel's original design on parchment. All other genuine Constantine rubles are in private collections outside of Russia. The so-called Trubetskoy ruble is a fake Constantine ruble manufactured in the 1860s in Paris, a rare collectible in its own right. Two original Trubetskoy rubles are preserved at the Hermitage Museum and the Smithsonian Institution, the third is privately owned. (en)

Известно пять экземпляров с надписью на гурте и три — с гладким гуртом. Особенность монеты заключается в необычной истории и крамольном характере её создания. Замалчивание самого факта существования монеты привело к появлению различных версий и легенд, которые способствовали привлечению интереса к константиновскому рублю. На начало 2016 года три монеты находятся в музеях — Эрмитаже, Государственном историческом музее в Москве и Смитсоновском институте в Вашингтоне. Остальные пребывают в частных коллекциях. Константиновский рубль является также одной из самых дорогих монет Российской империи. На аукционе 2004 года в Нью-Йорке он был продан за 550 тысяч долларов США, а на аукционе в 2021 году Вагит Аликперов приобрёл его за 2,6 млн долларов США. Экстраординарный интерес и стоимость данной монеты обусловили появление большого количества подделок.
