- The Chicago principles are a set of guiding principles intended to demonstrate a commitment to freedom of speech and freedom of expression on college campuses in the United States. Initially adopted by the University of Chicago following a report issued by a designated Committee on Freedom of Expression in 2014 (″Report of the Committee on Freedom of Expression″), they came to be known as the “Chicago principles”, as the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) led a campaign to encourage other universities across the country sign up to the principles or model their own based on similar goals. Since 2014, a number of other universities have committed to the principles, including Princeton, Purdue, and Washington University in St. Louis. As of April 2022, FIRE reported that 84 U.S. colleges and universities had "adopted or endorsed the Chicago Statement or a substantially similar statement." (en)
- Chicagoprinciperna (engelska: The Chicago Principles) eller Chicago-deklarationen (engelska: The Chicago Statement) är en uppsättning riktlinjer rörande yttrandefrihet på college campus i USA. Syftet är att de college som frivilligt antar dem uppvisar ett åtagande för dessa frågor. Chicagoprinciperna tillkom och antogs vid University of Chicago efter en rapport av en tillsatt kommitte om yttrandefrihet 2014 ("Report of the Committee on Freedom of Expression") och kom att kallas "Chicagoprinciperna" i samband med att andra universitet i USA antog dem eller utformade egna riktlinjer efter liknande mål. Sedan 2014 har flera universitet antagit principerna, till exempel Princeton University och Purdue University.
