- Chetna Gala Sinha (Marathi चेतना सिन्हा; * 21. März 1959 in Mumbai, Indien) ist eine indische Sozialaktivistin und Bankerin. Sie engagiert sich für die Verbesserung der wirtschaftlichen Bedingungen von Frauen in ländlichen Gebieten Indiens. 1997 gründete sie die Mann Deshi Mahila Sahakari Bank, die erste indische Bank für Frauen im ländlichen Indien, die mittlerweile 200 000 Kontoinhaberinnen hat und Mikrokredite in Höhe von 50 Mio. US$ an ländliche Unternehmerinnen vergeben hat. Bis 2018 hat die Bank fast eine halbe Million Frauen unterstützt. Im Januar 2018 übernahm Sinha gemeinsam mit sechs weiteren Frauen den Vorsitz des 48. Sinha and six other women chaired the 48th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January 2018. Sinha has been awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar, India's highest civilian award for women. India. She is a Member of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance and is also a member of the Gender Equality Advisory Council (2022) appointed during Germany's G7 Presidency. In 1997, she set up the Mann Deshi Mahila Sahakari Bank – India's first bank for and by rural women. Mann Deshi Bank had 100,000 account holders and had loaned over US$50 million to support female micro-entrepreneurs in 2018. Mann Deshi Foundation runs Business Schools, a Community Radio and a Chambers of Commerce for rural women micro entrepreneurs. In 2022, it has supported over 850,000 women.
