- Trilogie Chaos (anglicky Chaos Walking) je sci-fi dystopická trilogie napsaná americkým spisovatelem Patrickem Nessem v letech 2008–2010. Příběh je umístěn na kolonizované planetě Nový svět, kde jsou volně slyšet myšlenky všech mužů a zvířat. Série tří románů vypráví příběh dvou dětí, Todda Hewitta a Violy Eadové. Ti v první díle pojmenovaném Hlas nože (2008) společně prchají před armádou z Prentisstownu, která postupně dobývá celý Nový svět. Ve druhém díle, který je nazván Temný ráj (2009), vypukne občanská válka mezi stoupenci prezidenta Prentisse a vzbouřenci, kteří si přezdívají Odpověď. V posledním třetím díle, Válce Hluku (2010), se rozpoutá závěrečná bitva mezi lidmi a domorodými obyvateli planety, Sádráky. K Trilogii Chaos vydal Patrick Ness tři krátké povídky, které jsou k dispozici online. V březnu roku 2019 by měla mít v kinech premiéru filmová adaptace prvního dílu v hlavní roli s Tomem Hollandem (Todd Hewitt) a Daisy Ridley (Viola Eade). První díl série je vyprávěn v ich-formě z pohledu Todda. Druhý díl je vyprávěn jak z pohledu Todda, tak i z pohledu Violy a ve třetí knize přibývá i pohled Sádráka jménem Návrat. (cs)
- Chaos Walking is a young adult science fiction series written by American-British novelist Patrick Ness. It is set in a dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other's thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds called Noise. The series is named after a line in the first book: "The Noise is a man unfiltered, and without a filter, a man is just chaos walking." The series consists of a trilogy of novels and three short stories. The three novels feature two adolescents, Todd Hewitt and Viola Eade, who encounter various moral issues and high stakes as the planet around them erupts into war. The Knife of Never Letting Go (2008) begins with Todd being forced to flee his town after discovering a patch of silence, free of Noise. In the second book, The Ask and the Answer (2009), tensions rise as a civil war between two opposing factions forms, and in the final book, Monsters of Men (2010), the indigenous species of New World rebels against the humans just as a ship full of new settlers is set to arrive on the planet. The first novel is narrated entirely by Todd, the second is told through the viewpoints of both Todd and Viola, and the third book is narrated by Todd, Viola and The Return. The series has won almost every major children's fiction award in the UK, including the 2008 Guardian award, the James Tiptree, Jr. Award, and the Costa Children's Book Award. Monsters of Men won the Carnegie Medal in 2011. It has been praised for its handling of themes such as gender politics, redemption, the meaning of war, and the unclear distinction between good and evil, all threaded through its complex, fast-paced narrative. C'est une série de science-fiction pour jeunes adultes qui prend place dans un monde dystopique où tous les êtres vivants peuvent entendre les pensées des autres dans un flux d'images, de mots et de sons appelé le « Bruit ». Seules les femmes humaines sont « illisibles ». Le premier livre, La Voix du couteau (The Knife of Never Letting Go), est paru en 2008 en Grande-Bretagne ; le second, Le Cercle et la Flèche (The Ask and the Answer) en 2009 et le dernier, La Guerre du bruit (Monsters of Men) en 2010. L'histoire se déroule sur « Nouveau Monde », une planète où des colons terriens se sont installés. Cette planète est aussi habitée par des autochtones, les « Spackles ». Le personnage principal du livre est Todd Hewitt, un orphelin de presque treize ans au début du premier tome, et qui est né à Prentissville, une ville de Nouveau Monde où il n'y a plus de femmes. Il va être amené à rencontrer Viola Eade, une colon qui était dans un vaisseau éclaireur qui s'est écrasé avec ses parents (qui sont morts), près de Prentissville. La série a remporté de nombreux prix prestigieux, notamment le Booktrust Teenage Prize et le Guardian Award en 2008 pour le premier tome et la médaille Carnegie en 2011 pour La Guerre du bruit. La storia ha come protagonista il giovane Todd Hewitt, il quale la narra in prima persona, e il cui analfabetismo lo porta ad utilizzare un linguaggio spesso sgrammaticato. Le vicende si svolgono su un pianeta denominato Mondo Nuovo, recentemente colonizzato dagli umani dopo aver condotto una guerra contro gli alieni Spackle, sconfiggendoli. Todd è cresciuto nell'isolata cittadina di Prentisstown, popolata esclusivamente dagli uomini in quanto le donne sono state tutte eliminate da un germe misterioso che permette di ascoltare e visualizzare i pensieri altrui. Quando scopre una sconvolgente verità, e che la sua vita è stata tutta una menzogna, Todd sarà costretto ad attraversare il Mondo Nuovo per cercare delle risposte, e contemporaneamente opporsi agli oscuri piani del sindaco David Prentiss. Nel secondo romanzo viene aggiunto il punto di vista della co-protagonista Viola, e nel terzo anche quello di uno Spackle. (it)
