- Cesanese Comune ist eine autochthone Rotweinsorte der Region Latium in Italien. Sie ist Teil der Familie der Cesanese-Reben. Ihr Anbau ist in den Provinzen Frosinone, Rieti, Latina und Terni sowie der Metropolitanstadt Rom empfohlen. Zugelassen ist sie außerdem in der Provinz Salerno in Kampanien. Im Jahr 1999 wurde eine bestockte Rebfläche von 985 Hektar erhoben. Die spätreifende Sorte ergibt rubinrote Weine, die jung getrunken werden sollten. Sie finden Eingang in den DOCG-Wein Cesanese del Piglio und in die DOC-Weine Castelli Romani, Cerveteri, Cesanese di Affile, Cesanese di Olevano Romano, Cori, Rosso Orvietano und Tarquinia. The grape has three Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) regions dedicated to it-, and . Cesanese di Affile appears to be a distinct sub-variety of Cesanese Comune unique to the commune of Affile. (much like Brunello is a unique clone of Sangiovese unique to commune of Montalcino) There are noticeable differences between Cesanese Comune and the grapes found in Cesanese di Affile, including the size of the grape berry itself. The sub-variety Cesanese d'Affile is considered to be of superior quality of Cesanese Comune and is used as minor ingredient in the Tuscan cult wine . The grape has very old origins, and may have been used in Roman winemaking. Today it is rarely seen outside of the Lazio. (en)
