- Das Zentralarchiv der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin ist eine wissenschaftliche Institution, die Akten aus allen einzelnen Sammlungen und Einrichtungen der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin sammelt und bereitstellt. Es dokumentiert die Geschichte der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin und seiner Vorgängerinstitution, der Königlichen Museen. Daneben verwaltet es auch kunstwissenschaftliche Sammlungen, beispielsweise die Nachlässe von Wilhelm von Bode, Anselm Feuerbach, Carl Wilhelm Kolbe, Adolph von Menzel, Christian Daniel Rauch, Johann Gottfried Schadow, Karl Friedrich Schinkel und einiger anderer Künstler und Kunstwissenschaftler. Das Archiv befindet sich im Archäologischen Zentrum in der Nachbarschaft der Museumsinsel. Die Leiterin ist seit April 2015 Petra Winter, sie folgte auf Jörn Grabowski, der das Archiv von 1992 bis 2014 leitete und in seiner aktuellen Form etablierte. (de)
- The Central Archive (German: Zentralarchiv der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin) is an academic institution in Berlin, Germany linked with the collections and administrative departments of the Berlin State Museums. It functions as the primary site for research and preservation of the Museums' "memory" and its primary source documents. Its holdings span the history of the State Museums of today back to the former Royal Museums (German: Königliche Museen) of the Kingdom of Prussia and German Empire. Through consolidation, the holdings have become one of the most important Art History archives in Germany. The Archive's mission is to handle these materials according to archive-specific principles, to ensure long-term preservation and to make them accessible. In response to increased demand for information and documentation about the history of the Museums' collections, a location on Museum Island is open to the public, offering holdings of the archive for researchers as well as answering queries.
