- The Bungei Prize (文藝賞, Bungeishō) is a Japanese literary award given by publishing company Kawade Shobō Shinsha. It was first awarded in 1962. La sélection se fait sur candidature, en proposant un manuscrit non publié. L’œuvre lauréate est dans un premier temps publiée dans le magazine Bungei, avant une publication sous forme de livre. Depuis les années 2000, des auteurs de plus en plus jeunes sont sélectionnés : Risa Wataya a 17 ans lorsqu'elle est récompensée en 2000. Elle est la plus jeune lauréate jusqu'à , 15 ans et qui est encore au collège, en 2005. Si beaucoup de lauréats du Prix Bungei n'ont pas obtenu une plus grande reconnaissance littéraire, le prix a néanmoins su découvrir plusieurs auteurs reconnus par la suite tels que Risa Wataya , Eimi Yamada, Ken’ichirō Isozaki , Keisuke Hada , ou Maki Kashimada.
