É uma freguesia essencialmente rural, composta na sua maior parte por terrenos agrícolas. À medida que se avança para Sul, a freguesia torna-se mais montanhosa, sendo particularmente íngreme na fronteira com a freguesia do Curral das Freiras (Município de Câmara de Lobos).
