- The Bibliothèque de Genève (BGE, English: Geneva Library, Library of Geneva), founded in 1559, was known as Bibliothèque publique et universitaire (BPU, English: Public and University Library) from 1907 to 2006. It occupies different buildings around the city: the main site in Parc des Bastions, the Musée Voltaire, and the . It also manages the library in Villa La Grange. It focuses on the humanities and the social sciences with special emphasis on the Reformation, the Enlightenment and Genevensia (i.e. anything published in Geneva or whose author or subject is connected to Geneva). Als Arbeitsinstrument der 1559 von Jean Calvin gegründeten Akademie wird sie zum ersten Mal 1561 erwähnt. Heute ist die Bibliothek von Genf gleichzeitig eine öffentliche Bibliothek mit patrimonialem Auftrag und die Zentralbibliothek der Genfer Universität. - La Bibliothèque de Genève (BGE), est l'une des principales et des plus anciennes bibliothèques patrimoniales et encyclopédiques de Suisse. Elle est située à Genève et est créée de manière concomitante au Collège et à l'Académie fondés par Jean Calvin en 1559. De 1907 à 2006, elle est connue sous le nom de Bibliothèque publique et universitaire (BPU). Elle est constituée d'une large collections d'imprimés ainsi que de collections patrimoniales ou plus spécialisés telles que celles des manuscrits ou des affiches. Avec le temps, trois sites spécialisés lui sont rattachés (Musée Voltaire, Centre d'iconographie, La Musicale). De par ses collections et les services qu'elle propose, la Bibliothèque est fréquentée aussi bien par la population genevoise que par des étudiants locaux ou des universitaires du monde entier. La Bibliothèque de Genève est également chargée du dépôt légal. À ce titre, elle conserve toutes les publications imprimées (livres, périodiques et affiches) éditées dans le canton de Genève. (fr)
