- Bibimys és un gènere de rosegadors de la família dels cricètids. Habita el Con Sud de Sud-amèrica. Aquest gènere fou descrit l'any 1979 pel zoòleg argentí . Les tres espècies tenen poblacions distanciades per centenars de quilòmetres. Les proves fòssils han demostrat que el gènere ha patit una recent contracció de la seva distribució, cosa que permetria explicar que, segons anàlisis filogenètiques, les tres presenten baixos nivells de variació morfològica i genètica. Les seves espècies es distribueixen des del Brasil i el Paraguai fins al centre-est de l'Argentina. Habiten armenteres altes prop de l'aigua, aiguamolls, boscos humits i selves de galeria. (ca)
- Bibimys is a genus of new world rats. Commonly known as the crimson-nosed rats, there are three species:
* Bibimys chacoensis - Chaco crimson-nosed rat - found in north-east Argentina and Paraguay
* Bibimys labiosus - Large-lipped crimson-nosed rat - south-east Brazil
* Bibimys torresi - Torres's crimson-nosed rat - central Argentina A extinct species is known from Quaternary remains in northeastern Brazil. Presently, species of Bibimys are found in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. As with most of the species in the South American Sigmodontinae, Bibimys has been arranged as a genus based mainly on morphological differences from the other living genera. Bibimys belongs to the tribe Scapteromyini, first informally described by P. Hershkovitz in 1966 and formally introduced later by E. Massoia in 1979. The scapteromyines are a small sigmodotine tribe, consisting of the three genera: Bibimys, Kunsia and Scapteromys. Many of the species have been described from badly preserved specimens. One of the greatest challenges lying with sigmodontine systematics is that there is much confusion and disagreement amongst authors regarding the relationship between their tribes. There are some disagreements regarding the validity of the scapteromyines and of Bibimys as a genus. In a broad phylogenetic study, Smith and Patton found that the scapteromyine genera Kunsia and Scapteromys formed a clade closely related to the Akodontini. In another study, D´Elia, Pardiñas and Myers have provisionally retained three species of Bibimys. Given the inadequacies of sample size and geographic representation, however, they acknowledged that morphological, karyotypic, and genetic evidence for their separation is unpersuasive. (en)
- Die Karminnasenratten (Bibimys) sind eine in Südamerika lebende Nagetiergattung aus der Gruppe der Neuweltmäuse mit drei Arten. Diese Nagetiere erreichen eine Kopfrumpflänge von 8 bis 10 Zentimetern, der Schwanz wird 6 bis 8 Zentimeter lang und das Gewicht beträgt 23 bis 34 Gramm. Ihr Fell ist an der Oberseite dunkelbraun gefärbt und weist einen schwarzen Aalstrich auf, der Bauch und die Füße sind hellgrau gefärbt. Der Kopf ist relativ massiv gebaut, namensgebendes Merkmal ist die rot gefärbte Nase. Karminnasenratten sind im mittleren Brasilien und im nordöstlichen Argentinien beheimatet, wo sie Grasländer und Savannen bewohnen. Es sind bodenbewohnende Tiere, die auch teilweise in der Erde graben. Sie sind nachtaktiv und ernähren sich von Gräsern und Samen. Es sind drei Arten bekannt, wobei die Abgrenzung zwischen den einzelnen Arten ungesichert ist:
* ist im nordöstlichen Argentinien beheimatet.
* ist nur aus dem zentralen Brasilien bekannt.
* bewohnt das östliche Argentinien. Die Karminnasenratten sind vermutlich eng mit Scapteromys und den Südamerikanischen Riesenratten (Kunsia) verwandt, sind aber deutlich kleiner als diese. (de)
