- جامعة بلفورد (بالإنجليزية: Belford University) هي مؤسسة تقدم شهادات جامعية غير متوافقة مع المستوى العلمي لطلابها وذلك يتم عبر الإنترنت. وتحتفظ المنظمة بصندوق بريد في هامبل، ولاية تكساس، فترسل الشهادات بالبريد من دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. جامعة بلفورد مملوكة من قبل شركة التي مقرها في كراتشي، باكستان وفقا لتحقيقات صحيفة نيويورك تايمز، لهذه الشركة تاريخ طويل في بيع شهادات أكاديمية مزورة وتحويلها عبر الإنترنت على نطاق عالمي. في 31 أغسطس 2012، تم إغلاق جامعة بلفورد وغرم مؤسسها سالم قرشي، بدفع 22.7 مليون دولار. حيث بينت المحكمة ان جامعة بلفورد وثانوية بلفورد أيضا هي مؤسسات تعليمية وهمية أي أنه غير موجودة على ارض الواقع " كما أظهرت المحكمة أيضا أن جامعة بلفورد كان يديرها سالم قرشي البالغ من العمر 30 عاما من شقته في كراتشي، باكستان. وقد وجدت المحكمة أن قرشي طور نظام تفاعلي محكم عبر الأنترنت لأيهام الأسخاص بوجود الجامعة وشرعيتها وانها أنها محل ثقة لأرباب العمل والجمعيات المهنية وبقية الأكاديميات التعليمية أنشأ قرشي 44 جامعة على الإنترنت وأكثر من 100 موقع ترويجي باستخدام ألة طابعة وبرنامج مايكروسوفت وورد، وبعض المواقع الرخيصة، أصبح قرشي مليونير بين عشية وضحاها. يكسب أكثر من 70 مليون دولار سنويا من بيع الشهادات المزورة. رفعت ضده عدة دعاوى قضائية بسبب تورطه مع . وعلى الرغم من أمر المحكمة الجزائية الأمريكية بأغلاق الموقع الإلكتروني للجامعة اعتبارا من 25 فبراير 2013، إلا انها تواصل العمل من موقع إلكتروني بديل. - Belford University was an organization that offered online unaccredited degrees for "life experience". The organization maintained a post office box in Humble, Texas, but its certificates were mailed from the United Arab Emirates. Along with many similar websites, it was owned by the Karachi-based company Axact, the main business of which, according to an investigation by The New York Times, is "to take the centuries-old scam of selling fake academic degrees and turn it into an Internet-era scheme on a global scale". In July 2018, Shoaib Ahmed Sheikh, the CEO of Axact was arrested and sentenced to prison for 20 years for his role in perpetuating this scam. On August 31, 2012, Belford University was shut down and its alleged founder, Salem Kureshi, "ordered to pay $22.7 million in damages". "The judgment established the truth of allegations that Belford High School and Belford University are fake schools that do not actually exist." Court documents from McClusley v. Belford University revealed that Belford University was run by 30-year-old Salem Kureshi from his apartment in Karachi, Pakistan. The court found that Kureshi "operates a sophisticated internet ripoff scheme through various websites, which falsely represent the existence of an accredited and legitimate high school, whose diplomas will be widely accepted by employers, professional associations, other schools, colleges and universities". Kureshi has admitted that he created 44 online universities and more than 100 promotional websites. "With an inkjet printer, a Microsoft Word template, and a few cheap websites, Kureshi allegedly became an overnight millionaire." (en)
