- El llançament de martell masculí va ser una de les proves del programa d'atletisme disputades durant els Jocs Olímpics d'Estocolm de 1912. Aquesta va ser la quarta vegada que es disputava aquesta competició i les tres anteriors les havia guanyat John Flanagan. - The men's hammer throw was a track and field athletics event held as part of the athletics at the 1912 Summer Olympics programme. It was the fourth appearance of the event, which had been won all three previous times by John Flanagan. The competition was held on Sunday, July 14, 1912. Fourteen hammer throwers from four nations competed. NOCs could enter up to 12 athletes. The event was won by Matt McGrath of the United States, the nation's fourth consecutive victory in the event. McGrath was the second man (after Flanagan) to earn multiple medals in the hammer throw. Duncan Gillis of Canada took silver. Clarence Childs of the United States finished third for bronze. (en)

- Rzut młotem mężczyzn był jedną z konkurencji lekkoatletycznych rozgrywanych podczas V Igrzysk Olimpijskich w Sztokholmie. Zawody zostały rozegrane 14 lipca na Stadionie Olimpijskim. Od lat dziewięćdziesiątych XIX wieku, rzut młotem zdominował Amerykanin irlandzkiego pochodzenia John Flanagan. Zdobył on trzy olimpijskie złota (1900, 1904, 1908), siedmiokrotnie wygrał mistrzostwa amatorów (1897-99, 1901-02, 1906-07) i ustanowił piętnaście rekordów świata. Od roku 1907 rywalizował z Amerykaninem McGrathem. McGrath zdominował konkurs olimpijski w Sztokholmie. Wygrał złoto wynikiem 54,74 metra, wyprzedzając srebrnego medalistę, Kanadyjczyka Gillisa o 6,35 m. Czwarta odległość McGratha była lepsza o 4,44 metra od najlepszej próby Gillisa. (pl)
