- Ismael Arturo Montero García (Mexico City, December 15, 1961) Mexican archaeologist, who has discovered 53 sites with pre-Hispanic evidence in the high mountains of Mesoamerica, for which he obtained the National Award for Forestry Merit, by the Government of Mexico in the year 2002, International Year of Mountains, declared by Unesco. In 2009, he led the expedition that discovered the highest site in the world on the path of the terrestrial equator, he has published scientific articles and books that have earned him the recognition of the Encyclopedia "Wielka Encyklopedia Gór i Alpinizmu" for his contribution to the mountaineering field. He collaborated as a speleologist in the Great Mayan Aquifer project, a project that in 2018 received the Public Recognition of the Congress of the Union, by agreement of the LXIII Legislature of the Chamber of Deputies. He was a member of the National System of Researchers of the National Council for Science and Technology, (Conacyt). He is currently an advisor to the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (Conanp) of the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat). In addition, he is the director of the Ipan Tepeme Ihuan Oztome Organization (ITIO). (en)
- Ismael Arturo Montero García (Ciudad de México, 15 de diciembre de 1961) arqueólogo mexicano, que ha descubierto 53 sitios con evidencias prehispánicas en las altas montañas de Mesoamérica, por lo que obtuvo el Premio Nacional al Mérito Forestal, por el Gobierno de México en el año 2002, Año Internacional de las Montañas, declarado por la Unesco. En 2009, dirigió la expedición que descubrió el sitio más alto en el mundo sobre la trayectoria del ecuador terrestre, ha publicado artículos científicos y libros que le han valido el reconocimiento de la Enciclopedia “Wielka Encyklopedia Gór i Alpinizmu” por su aportación al campo del alpinismo. Colaboró como espeleólogo en el proyecto Gran Acuífero Maya, proyecto que en 2018 recibió el Reconocimiento público del Congreso de la Unión, por acuerdo de la LXIII Legislatura de la Cámara de Diputados. Fue miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, (Conacyt). Actualmente es asesor de la Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas (Conanp) de la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (Semarnat).
