- Arnaud Vidal fou un poeta occità de Castellnou d'Arri, un dels fundadors el 1323 del Consistori del Gai Saber de Tolosa de Llenguadoc, i un dels primers llorejats el 1324 per una cançó a la Mare de Déu. El 1318 va comprondre la novel·la Guilhem de la Barra, de 5.344 octosíl·labs, conservada sencera, dedicada a un baró de Gascunya, Sicart de Montaut. És una novel·la exòtica d'aventures que recull un fons de situacions tradicionals escampades arreu d'Europa (amors, batalles, conversions al cristianisme), però estil molt lineal mancat d'invenció i rigor. - Arnaud Vidal de Castelnaudari (* 13./14. Jahrhundert in Castelnaudary; † 14. Jahrhundert) war ein mittelalterlicher, okzitanischer Dichter und Troubadour des 14. Jahrhunderts aus Castelnaudary. Vidal veröffentlichte im Jahr 1318 den Roman in Versform Guilhem de la Barra. Dieser Roman war im Jahr 1866 von dem französischen Philologen Paul Meyer wiederentdeckt und später in moderner französischer Sprache herausgegeben worden. Vidal war 1323 an der Gründung des bürgerlichen Dichterkreises der Gai Saber, der Fröhlichen Wissenschaft, in Toulouse beteiligt. Er gewann mit einem Lobgedicht auf die Jungfrau Maria den von diesem Dichterkreis ins Leben gerufenen allerersten mittelalterlichen Dichterwettbewerb der Jocs Florals im Jahr 1324 und erhielt dafür das Goldene Veilchen. - Arnaut Vidal de Castelnou d'Ari (Occitan pronunciation: [aɾˈnaw biˈðal ðe kasˌtelˈnɔw ˈðaɾi]; fl. 1305–1324) was a medieval Occitan author from Castelnaudary. Arnaut was a troubadour and the first poet laureate of the Consistori del Gay Saber. Arnaut's poem in praise of the Virgin Mary was adjudged the best by the Consistori at a contest held on Holy Cross Day 1324 at Toulouse and the troubadour was awarded the violeta d'or (golden violet). He received the flor de gaug d'argen fi (fine marigold in silver) as the first prize for a dansa at the festa de Santa Crotz on 3 May 1324. He was also the author of the chivalric romance Guilhem de la Barra (1318), of which Paul Meyer produced the editio princeps (first modern critical edition). A new (French) edition has since been produced. (en)
