- Ardgour (/ˌɑːrdˈɡaʊr/) (Scottish Gaelic: Àird Ghobhar, meaning Height of the goats) is an area of the Scottish Highlands on the western shore of Loch Linnhe. It lies north of the district of Morvern and east of the district of Sunart. Administratively it is now part of the ward management area of Lochaber, in Highland council area. It forms part of the traditional shire and current registration county of Argyll. The modern term Ardgour, together with Kingairloch, is applied to a large area of countryside around the village, from the Glensanda Superquarry, and in the south and west (bordering Morvern and Sunart districts), up to , , , , Achaphubuil, Blaich, Duisky, and in the north (bordering Glenfinnan). Until 1829 Ardgour was part of Kilmallie Parish - the largest in Scotland - at which time a Quoad Sacra Parish (QSP) - 'Ballachulish & Corran of Ardgour' - was formed, together with Ballachulish, in Inverness-shire across Loch Linnhe. Parliamentary churches were built at Creag Mhòr, (north) Ballachulish and at Corran, Ardgour with the Manse at the former in Onich. 'Ardgour' and 'Ballachulish & Onich' became Parishes in their own rights in 1894. Ardgour took in Kingairloch when this was dis-joined from Lismore and Appin Parish in 1911. From 1930 to 1975 Ardgour formed part of the (civil) landward district of Ardnamurchan in Argyll. From 1975 it was subsumed civilly into the Lochaber District of Highland (Region) The area is served by the A861 road. The easiest access from the A82 (Glasgow - Inverness Trunk road) is via a short ferry crossing from Corran to Ardgour; the alternative is a 40-mile (60 km) trip around Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil. The ferry runs every half-hour from about 6:30 am (8:45 am on Sunday) until about 9:30 pm and costs £8.00 per PLG vehicle (wef 1 Apr 2018) for a single ticket - passengers/pedestrians free. Foot passengers and bicycles are carried free of charge. Ardgour has formed part of the territory of the Clan MacLean ever since the MacMasters were removed from the territory in the 15th Century. The current Laird of Ardgour, Robin Maclean, is a MacLean by adoption. He is the nephew of the last hereditary Maclean of Ardgour - a lady Laird - having changed his name by legal action in The Court of the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh. (en)

Jusqu’en 1829, Ardgour faisait partie de la paroisse de (la plus grande d’Écosse) à l’époque où une paroisse de Quoad Sacra (QSP) (Ballachulish & Corran of Ardgour) fut formée, avec Ballachulish, dans le comté d'Inverness, de l’autre côté du Loch Linnhe. Des furent construites à , (nord) Ballachulish et à , Ardgour avec la Manse à la première à . Ardgour et Ballachulish & Onich devinrent paroisses dans leurs propres droits en 1894. Ardgour a absorbé Kingairloch quand celui-ci a été séparé de la paroisse de Lismore et Appin en 1911. De 1930 à 1975, Ardgour fait partie du district terrestre (civil) d’Ardnamurchan en Argyll. À partir de 1975, elle a été intégrée civilement dans le district de Lochaber Highland (région). La zone est desservie par la . L’accès le plus facile depuis l’A82 (route Glasgow - ) se fait par un court trajet en ferry de Corran à Ardgour ; l’alternative est un trajet de 40 miles (60 km) autour du Loch Linnhe et du Loch Eil. Le ferry circule toutes les demi-heures à partir d’environ 6 h 30 (8 h 45 le dimanche) jusqu’à environ 21 h 30 et coûte 8.00 £ par véhicule PLG (tarif au 1er avril 2018) pour un billet unique ; pour les passagers le transport est gratuits. Les piétons et les bicyclettes sont transportés gratuitement. Ardgour fait partie du territoire du Clan Maclean depuis que les ont été évincés du territoire au XVe siècle. L’actuel laird d’Ardgour, Robin Maclean, est un Maclean par adoption. Il est le neveu du dernier laird héréditaire Maclean d’Ardgour (une dame Laird) ayant changé son nom par une action en justice à la Cour du Lord Lyon à Édimbourg. (fr)
