- André Bachand (born December 8, 1961) is a Canadian politician, who represented the riding of Richmond—Arthabaska as member of the Progressive Conservatives from 1997 to 2003. When the PC Party was merged with the Canadian Alliance into the Conservative Party in December 2003, Bachand left the party and sat as an "Independent Progressive Conservative" until the 2004 election, and then retired from the House of Commons. Born in Quebec City, Quebec, Bachand has been an administrator, and a business executive. He was the mayor of Asbestos, Quebec, from 1986 to 1997, and was the Préfet of the MRC d'Asbestos from 1987 to 1997. (en)

Depuis les élections générales québécoises de 2018, il représente la circonscription provinciale de Richmond sous la bannière de la Coalition avenir Québec. De 1997 à 2003, il a représenté la circonscription fédérale de Richmond—Arthabaska sous la bannière du Parti progressiste-conservateur du Canada. Lorsque le Parti PC fusionne avec l'Alliance canadienne pour former le Parti conservateur du Canada en décembre 2003, Bachand quitte le parti et siège à titre de "progressiste-conservateur indépendant" jusqu'aux élections de 2004 ; il prend ensuite sa retraite de la Chambre des communes. En juillet 2009, il est nommé ambassadeur du Canada à l'UNESCO à Paris par le premier ministre conservateur, Stephen Harper. (fr)
