- Amenhotep fou gran sacerdot d'Amon en temps de Ramsès IX, Ramsès X i fins a Ramsès XI. Fou també visir. Era fill de Ramessesnakht. En temps de Ramsès XI (vers 1100 aC), per orde del faraó, el virrei de Núbia, Paneshy, el va atacar amb intenció de deposar-lo i el va assetjar al temple de Madinet Habu. Després Amenhotep va deixar de ser gran sacerdot però no se sap si va sobreviure. Alguns experts consideren que Paneshy va poder exercir algun temps com a gran sacerdot. (ca)
- Amenophis, auch Imenhotep oder Amenhotep, war ein „Hoherpriester des Amun“, der unter Ramses IX. (ca. 1125 bis 1107 v. Chr.) bis Ramses XI. (1103 bis 1070 v. Chr.) amtierte und eine Schlüsselrolle im Bürgerkrieg am Ende der 20. Dynastie spielte. Wegen der mageren Quellen sind die Ereignisse jedoch nur schwer rekonstruierbar. Amenophis war der Sohn seines Amtsvorgängers Ramsesnacht, der noch im 2. Regierungsjahr von Ramses IX. in seinem Amt bezeugt ist. Im 10. Jahr desselben Herrschers ist dann allerdings Amenophis auf Reliefs im Karnak-Tempel in diesem Amt dokumentiert. Er trat in der Zwischenzeit die Amtsnachfolge an. Unter Ramses IX. erscheint er zudem mehrmals als Richter in Grabräuberprozessen. Er wird auch im Zusammenhang mit dem Streik der Arbeiter von Deir el-Medineh genannt. Dort nimmt er die Beschwerden von Arbeitern entgegen. Die erwähnen in den folgenden Jahren einen „Krieg gegen Amenophis“, der wohl von dem Vizekönig von Kusch, Panehsi, angeführt wurde. Dies geschah vermutlich kurz vor dem 12. Jahr von Ramses XI. Amenophis wurde dabei „sechs Monate unterdrückt“. Danach findet er keine Erwähnung mehr und sein weiteres Schicksal bleibt unbekannt. (de)

- Amenhotep was the High Priest of Amun towards the end of the Twentieth Dynasty of Egypt, serving under Ramesses IX, Ramesses X and Ramesses XI. He was the son of Ramessesnakht, the previous high priest of Amun. It is not beyond dispute who succeeded him in office. For a long time it was assumed that he was followed by the High Priest Herihor. However, Karl Jansen-Winkeln has suggested that Amenhotep was instead succeeded by the High Priest Piankh. We know the names of several of his brothers and a sister:
* his (eldest?) brother, the prophet of Amun Meribast II
* his brother, the Chief Steward Usimarenakth II
* his sister Aatmeret I
* his brother, the Second Prophet of Amun Nesamun I (see below) Unfortunately, there is no hard evidence concerning the identity of his wife (wives?). Recently it has been proposed that he may have been married to Hrere, but at the moment this remains highly speculative. (en)

Ramsés IX le hacía regalos como sumo sacerdote, incluyendo oro y plata. Existen grabados de estas donaciones, que todavía se conservan, en el templo de Karnak. El poder declinante de la dinastía se refleja en la representación de Amenhotep frente a Ramsés IX, ambos grabados con el mismo tamaño. Normalmente, se representaba al faraón con mayor tamaño que al resto de personajes, como símbolo de mayor autoridad. Jugó un papel clave en la guerra civil que marcó el final de la Dinastía XX. Durante el reinado de Ramsés XI, el virrey de Nubia, llamado Panehesy, atacó Tebas para restablecer el orden. Paneshy sitió al sumo sacerdote en el templo fortificado de Medinet Habu.
