Il titolo è la sigla di Air Combat Emulator (in ACE il nome esteso è usato spesso come sottotitolo, ma in ACE 2 appare soltanto nei manuali). La principale novità rispetto al primo episodio è la modalità multigiocatore, che consiste in duelli a schermo diviso.
