- Jean-Louis Aubert (París, 15 de febrer de 1731 - idm. 10 de novembre de 1814), fou un dramaturg, poeta i periodista, era fill del violinista i compositor Jacques Aubert (1689-1753) i germà del també músic com el seu pare (1720-1800). Indubtablement fou el membre més notable de la família Aubert. Va fer els estudis religiosos al Col·legi de Navarra i les seves primeres faules, molt notables per cert, aparegueren en el Mercure de France, mereixen els elogis de Voltaire i dels Germans Grimm. La poesia no era per Aubert només que per passar el temps, que redactava el diari Affiches, annonces et avis divers, publicant en cada número apreciacions crítiques de llibres i obres teatrals, molt ben rebudes pel públic i literats. Col·laborà en altres revistes i fou director de la Gazette de France (1774-1786) i fou professor d'eloqüència del Col·legi Reial. A més de les faules, de les que se'n feren nombroses edicions, deixà Réfutation suivie et détaillée des principes de M. Rousseau de Genève touchant la musique, adressée à lui même en reponse à sa lettre (París, 1754), Contes moraux sur les tableax de Greure (1761-63), Abel, drama en tres actes: el poema Voeu de Jepthé (1765) i Psyché (1765), poema amb un prefaci molt curiós en el que l'autor es declara superior a La Fontaine, perquè aquest cercava el assumptes per les seves faules en qualsevol lloc, mentre que les d'Aubert sempre eren originals. - Jean-Louis Aubert (15 February 1731 in Paris – 10 November 1814 in Paris), called the Abbé Aubert, was a French dramatist, poet and journalist, son of the violinist and composer Jacques Aubert (1686-1753) and brother of Louis Aubert (painter). Aubert was educated at the Collège de Navarre and entered the order. In 1741, Aubert entered the editorial staff of the Affiches Annonces et Avis Divers, where he was literary critic. In 1752, he created the Affiches et Annonces de Province.He opposed the encyclopedists. Aubert published Fables in the Mercure de France and in 1756 Fables nouvelles. Grimm found his fables "just good for children, not being allowed to be too difficult"; Voltaire on the contrary recommended them. 1761-1763 appeared the Contes moraux sur les tableaux de Greuze, 1765 Mort d'Abel and Vœu de Jephté. A protégé of Vergennes, Aubert joined the Journal de Trévoux, replacing the , which he renamed the Journal des Sciences. In 1773, he was made chair of literature at the Collège Royal and replaced as director of the Gazette de France in 1774. Aubert wrote essays of the Critiques of Voltaire and published the Ode aux poètes du tems sur les louanges ridicules dont ils fatiguent Louis XVI (Paris, 1774), Parallèle de l’importance des opinions religieuses de Necker et de la religion considérée de Mme de Genlis (Paris, 1788), Mon échatillon (poems, Paris year VIII) and Traits de l’histoire universelle (Amsterdam, 1760-1762) (en)
