- A Winter Scene with Skaters near a Castle is an oil-on-oak painting undertaken between 1608 and 1609 by the Dutch artist Hendrick Avercamp. As with a number of Avercamp's works, the picture is part of the Flemish tradition of painting "the harmony of human activity and the cycle of nature". He was influenced in his subject by the Little Ice Age, particularly the cold winter of 1607–08, and was the first of the Dutch painters to specialise in snow scenes. The painting was acquired by the National Gallery in London in 1891 and remains in its collection, as at 2020. On acquisition it was square in shape, but during cleaning in 1983 it was established that Avercamp's original was circular, and the surrounding pieces were made by another artist. The gallery removed the additions. (en)
- Scène d'hiver avec des patineurs près d'un château est une peinture à l'huile sur bois réalisée entre 1608 et 1609 par l'artiste néerlandais Hendrick Avercamp. Comme nombre d'œuvres d'Avercamp, le tableau s'inscrit dans la tradition flamande de représentation de « l'harmonie entre l'activité humaine et le cycle de la nature ». Le tableau porte la marque de l'influence du petit âge glaciaire, en particulier l'hiver froid de 1607-1608. Avercamp est le premier des peintres hollandais à se spécialiser dans les scènes de neige. Le tableau a été acquis par la National Gallery de Londres en 1891. Lors de l'acquisition il était de forme carrée, mais lors de son nettoyage en 1983 il a été établi que l'original d'Avercamp était circulaire et que les coins ont été réalisés par un autre artiste.
