- The 2018 ITU World Triathlon Series was the 10th season of the World Triathlon Series, the top-level international series for triathlon, since its establishment in 2009. The season consisted of nine pairs of triathlon races for both a men's and women's competition, as well as three mixed relays, beginning on 2 March in Abu Dhabi, and concluding on 16 September with the grand final at the Gold Coast. Mario Mola and Flora Duffy began the season as defending champions from the 2017 season. Mola would go on to defend his title and win the men's series for the third time in as many years, becoming the second-most successful triathlete at the world triathlon series after fellow countryman Javier Gómez. Duffy's season however would be plagued by injuries, leading to an inability to defend her title despite winning two races early in the season. The eventual winner, Vicky Holland, captured the women's series by moving into first place only after the final race of the series. The most notable event of the year was in Bermuda where the Norwegian team completed the first men's podium sweep, with race winner Casper Stornes having only competed in two prior WTS races. (en)

La Gran Finale di Gold Coast ha compreso anche i Campionati del Mondo Under 23, Junior, divisione Paratriathlon, decisi in un'unica gara. Gli atleti élite, uomini e donne, sono stati incoronati sulla base del punteggio finale attribuito dalla serie di gare dei campionati del mondo. Tra gli uomini ha vinto per il terzo anno consecutivo lo spagnolo Mario Mola, mentre la serie femminile è andata per la prima volta alla britannica Vicky Holland. Cette série porte le nom de Séries mondiales de triathlon (World Triathlon Series - WTS). Ces épreuves comportent aussi bien des courses au format M (distance olympique), soit 1 500 m de natation, 40 km de cyclisme et 10 km de course à pied, qu'au format S (sprint), soit 750 m de natation, 20 km de cyclisme et 5 km de course à pied. Les titres de champion et championne du monde de triathlon sur courte distance, sont octroyés aux triathlètes totalisant le plus grand nombre de points au classement général. Les titres des championnats du monde U23 et juniors s'attribuent sur une seule course qui se déroule généralement lors des journées de la grande finale du circuit. (fr)

Op basis van de behaalde punten werd een eindklassement opgemaakt om de uiteindelijke wereldkampioen(e) te bepalen. Titelverdedigers waren de Spanjaard Mario Mola (mannen) en de Bermudaanse Flora Duffy (vrouwen). Mola wist zijn titel met succes te verdedigen. - У 2018 році відбувся десятий сезон світової серії з тріатлону. Перше змагання стартувало 2 березня в Абу-Дабі, останнє — завершилося 16 вересня в Голд-Кості (Нова Зеландія). Всього було проведено девять турнірів, де відбулося вісім індивідуальних гонок і три естафети. У чоловіків третій рік поспіль перемогу здобув іспанець Маріо Мола. Чемпіонка 2017 року Флора Даффі зазнала травми і завершила сезон на 13 позиції. Цього року найсильнішою у жінок була Вікі Голланд (Велика Британія). Головною несподіванкою року став етап на Бермудських островаж, де норвежці посіли три перші місця у змаганнях чоловіків. (uk)
