- The 2011 European Cup Winter Throwing was held on 19 and 20 March 2011 at the National Sports Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. It was the eleventh edition of the athletics competition for throwing events and was jointly organised by the European Athletic Association and the Bulgarian Athletic Federation. The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. In addition to the senior competitions, there were also under-23 events for younger athletes. The first day of events was affected by poor weather, but Hungarian Olympic hammer thrower Krisztián Pars produced a series of throws over 79 metres, with a best of 79.84 m to win the men's event. Vira Rebryk won the under-23 women's javelin, while runner-up Liina Laasma broke the Estonian junior record. On the second day, eighteen-year-old javelin thrower Zigismunds Sirmais won the men's senior gold medal with a world junior record mark of 84.47 m. Turkey's Fatih Avan set a national record in the javelin to win in the under-23 section. (en)

- De European Cup Winter Throwing 2011 was de elfde editie van de European Cup Winter Throwing, een Europees werpkampioenschap. Het vond plaats in de in Sofia (Bulgarije) op 19 en 20 maart. De wedstrijd werd georganiseerd door de European Athletic Association en de atletiekbond van Bulgarije. De European Cup Winter Throwing 2011 bestond uit kogelstoten, discuswerpen, speerwerpen en kogelslingeren voor de categorieën mannen, vrouwen, mannen neo-senioren en vrouwen neo-senioren. In elk van deze categorieën verzamelt de beste prestatie per onderdeel per land punten. Uiteindelijk wint het land dat de meeste punten weet te verzamelen de Europese Cup. (nl)
- 11. Zimowy Puchar Europy w Rzutach – zawody lekkoatletyczne, które odbyły się 19 i 20 marca 2011 w stolicy Bułgarii – Sofii. Organizację zawodów European Athletics powierzył Sofii w maju 2010 roku. Wydarzeniem zawodów było ustanowienie przez Zigismundsa Sirmaisa nowego rekordu świata juniorów w rzucie oszczepem – Łotysz uzyskał wynik 84,47 i poprawił należący od czerwca 2001 do Andreasa Thorkildsena rekord o równe 60 centymetrów. - Кубок Европы по зимним метаниям 2011 года прошёл 19—20 марта в Софии, столице Болгарии. Соревнования прошли на основном стадионе и поле для метаний . В программу турнира были включены толкание ядра, метание диска, метание молота и метание копья. Разыгрывались 4 командных Кубка: среди мужчин и женщин в абсолютной возрастной категории и среди молодёжи до 23 лет (1989 года рождения и моложе). В соревнованиях приняли участие 248 метателей из 33 стран Европы. Каждая страна могла выставить до 2 человек в каждой дисциплине у взрослых и одного — среди молодёжи. В зачёт команды шёл лучший результат в каждом из видов метаний, после чего он переводился в очки с помощью Международной таблицы перевода результатов ИААФ. По сумме полученных баллов определялись победители и призёры в командном зачёте Кубка. (ru)
