- The 2003 World Horticultural Exposition (in German: Internationale Gartenschau 2003) was organized in the City of Rostock in Germany. It was the 17th international horticultural exposition recognized by the Bureau International des Expositions. The park was created in a derelict area around ruins of the former village of Schmarl on the banks of the river Warnow. This made it possible to have a connection between water and gardens. (en)
- Die Internationale Gartenbauausstellung, kurz IGA, fand 2003 in Rostock statt. Als Standort wurden wassernahe, nicht genutzte Brachflächen und der Rest des ehemaligen Dorfes Schmarl an der Warnow ausgewählt, dies bot den Planern die Chance, eine Gartenbauausstellung mit Bezug zum Wasser zu schaffen. Weitere geläufige Namen für die Gartenbauausstellung sind Gartenausstellung und Gartenschau. Nach dem Ereignis wurde versucht, das IGA-Gelände weiterhin als touristischen Hotspot zu vermarkten. Da dies nicht gelang, beschloss die Stadt den kostenfreien Zugang, seit April 2019 sind die Tore geöffnet, kann der IGA-Park als Freizeitgelände genutzt werden. In den kommenden Jahren ist die Umwandlung zu einem Landschaftspark mit starker kultureller und sportlicher Nutzung vorgesehen. (de)
