- دوري عموم أندية العراق للدرجة الأولى 1988–89 هي الموسم الخامس عشر من الدوري العراقي الممتاز منذ تأسيسه عام 1974. نظمت هذه البطولة بنظام مختلف عن المواسم السابقة حيث قسمت الفرق إلى أربع مجموعات لتترشح للأدوار النهائية 10 فرق قسمت إلى مجموعتين لتلعب فرق المركزين الأول والثاني في كل مجموعة في الدور نصف النهائي ثم الفائز إلى المباراة النهائية. في المرحلة الإقليمية يكسر التعادل بالوقت الإضافي ثم ضربات الجزاء الترجيحية. يمنح الفائز بفارق هدفين وأكثر في الوقت الأصلي للمباراة 3 نقاط ، والفائز بفارق اقل من هدفين في وقت المباراة الأصلي والإضافي نقطتين ، ويمنح الفائز بضربات الجزاء الترجيحية نقطة واحدة. فاز نادي الرشيد بالبطولة للمرة الثالثة على التوالي. - The 1988–89 Iraqi Pan-National Clubs First Division was the 15th season of the competition since its foundation in 1974 and the first that was played in a group stage format rather than a round-robin format. The name of the league was changed from Iraqi National Clubs First Division to Iraqi Pan-National Clubs First Division. Al-Rasheed won the title by defeating Al-Talaba on penalties in the final, to become the first team to win three Premier League titles in a row. During the regional stage, if a match ended in a draw, it would go to extra time and then penalties if necessary. A team would earn an extra point if they won a game by two goals or more after normal time. Penalty shootout wins earned one point. (en)
- La saison 1988-1989 du Championnat d'Irak de football est la quinzième édition de la première division en Irak, l' Iraqi Premier League. Le déroulement de la compétition change radicalement par rapport aux saisons précédentes. Trente formations disputent un championnat régional qui voit les dix meilleurs qualifiés. Les dix équipes sont réparties en deux groupes, dont les deux meilleurs disputent la phase finale (demi-finales et finale sur un seul match). C'est le club d'Al Rasheed, double tenant du titre, qui remporte à nouveau le championnat cette saison après avoir battu Talaba SC lors de la finale nationale. C'est le troisième titre de champion d'Irak de l'histoire du club. (fr)
