- The 13th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships were held in Rome, the capital of Italy, on June 28 - July 1, 1954. It was the first World Championships at which the Soviet Union competed, winning 20 medals overall (more than three times the amount of any other country). Other major changes at this championships included: 1) it was the first world championships at which a Code of Points was used; and 2) it was the last world championships that would be held "in open air" (outdoors). - 13-й чемпионат мира по спортивной гимнастике проходил с 27 по 30 июня 1954 года в Риме. В женских соревнованиях приняли участие 126 гимнасток из 18 стран, а в мужских соревнованиях — 132 гимнаста из 24 стран. В командном турнире за каждую страну выступали по 8 гимнастов, но в зачёт шли 6 лучших результатов в каждом виде многоборья. Это был первый чемпионат мира по спортивной гимнастике, в котором приняли участие советские спортсмены. (ru)
