- 1717 Broadway is a skyscraper in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. At 750 feet (230 m) high, it is the tallest hotel in North America. The building contains two hotels, the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Central Park below the 35th floor and the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park on floors 35 and higher, with a total of 639 rooms. Das mit einer Höhe von knapp 230 Metern vom Architekturbüro Nobutaka Ashihara Associates entworfene Gebäude ist das höchste Hotelgebäude New Yorks und löste nach seiner Fertigstellung 2013 das Four Seasons Hotel ab. Auf den 68 Stockwerken befinden sich zwei verschiedene Hotels. Die Bauarbeiten wurden im Sommer 2011 begonnen, bereits Ende Oktober waren zwei Baukräne errichtet und die Arbeiten am Fundament und den unterirdischen Etagen nahezu abgeschlossen. Im Anschluss begann die Errichtung der oberirdischen Stockwerke und damit auch nach und nach deren Ausbau sowie die Glasverkleidung. Die endgültige Höhe des Gebäudes wurde im Oktober 2012 erreicht. Im November 2013 wurde das Gebäude fertiggestellt und eröffnet. Ursprünglich war der Eröffnungstermin ein Jahr später veranschlagt worden, da von einem langsameren Bauverlauf ausgegangen wurde. Optisch zeichnet sich der am Broadway unweit des Central Parks befindliche Wolkenkratzer durch einen quadratischen Grundriss und eine Glasfassade aus. Die einheitliche Glasfassade wird oberhalb von 100 Metern für wenige Etagen unterbrochen, da sich dort ein offenes Atrium befindet, das den Übergang der beiden Hotels darstellt. Insgesamt sind 639 Hotelwohnungen im Gebäude vorhanden. (de)
