- Jitro kouzelníků: úvod do fantastického realismu (Matin des magiciens) je „záhadologická“ kniha francouzských spisovatelů Jacquese Bergiera (přírodovědec, chemik, odborník na sci-fi) a (žurnalista). Francouzsky poprvé vyšla v roce 1960, anglicky 1963 a česky 1969 (v překladu ). Kniha se populární formou věnuje okultismu, magii, tajným společnostem a jejich údajnému vlivu na vědu a společnost. Z knihy čerpali a navazovali na ni další spisovatelé. Z českých to byl například Ludvík Souček nebo . Autoři si kladou otázku, zda se současná věda jejich doby ubírá správným směrem a nepřehlíží (někdy i vědomě) fakta, která nedokáže vysvětlit. Velká část knihy pojednává i o nevyjasněných kapitolách v historii vývoje lidstva a skrytých či nedostatečně rozvíjených psychických silách člověka. Autoři zde tvrdí, že příslušníci některých zaniklých civilizací nebo různých tajných organizací (např. rosenkruciáni a alchymisté) disponovali v minulosti řadou dnes zapomenutých znalostí a dokázali využívat psychických sil lidského mozku na daleko vyšší úrovni, než je tomu u člověka v současné době. Zároveň vyslovují přesvědčení, že lidstvo v brzké budoucnosti dospěje k výraznému vývojovému skoku, kdy bude využit především doposud dřímající potenciál psychické energie a síly. Domnívají se přitom, že někteří „probuzení“ jedinci již dnes žijí skrytě mezi námi a záměrně nedávají najevo své výjimečné schopnosti. (cs)
- El retorno de los brujos (Le Matin des Magiciens, en francés) es el título de un libro publicado en 1960, subtitulado Una introducción al . Escrito por Louis Pauwels, en colaboración con Jacques Bergier, y trataba temas entonces novedosos: fenómenos parapsicológicos, civilizaciones desaparecidas, el esoterismo y su conexión con el nazismo y otros. Pretendía dar comienzo a una nueva revolución cultural, y levantó una gran expectativa. Fue objeto de críticas tanto elogiosas como demoledoras. En los años 1960 y 1970, se vendieron más de 2 000 000 de ejemplares en francés y en otros idiomas, y la primera traducción al español se publicó en 1961. En ese mismo año, el éxito de El retorno de los brujos llevó a Pauwels y Bergier a editar una revista mensual sobre los mismos temas, llamada Planète, de cuyo primer número se publicaron 5 000 ejemplares y tuvo cinco reediciones. En el momento de mayor venta, cada número sobrepasaba las 100 000 copias. No obstante el éxito inicial, la revista dejó de publicarse en 1968. (es)

As the authors disclaim in their preface, the book is intended to challenge readers' viewpoints on historic events, whether they believe the explanations or not, but with the goal to give readers the opportunity to test their level of cognitive dissonance and critical thinking skills. The book is often referenced by conspiracy-theory enthusiasts and presents a collection of "raw material for speculation of the most outlandish order" by covering topics like cryptohistory, ufology, occultism in Nazism, alchemy, spiritual philosophy and Die Glocke. Written in French, Le Matin des magiciens was translated into English by Rollo Myers in 1963 under the title The Dawn of Magic, and in 1964 released in the United States as The Morning of the Magicians (Stein and Day; paperback in 1968 by Avon Books). A German edition was published 1962 with the title Aufbruch ins dritte Jahrtausend (Departure into the Third Millennium). The Morning of the Magicians became a cult classic within the youth culture in France in the 1960s and the 1970s. Cautioned by the hostile reception by skeptic reviewers (notable among whom were the secular humanists , Évry Schatzman and Jean-Claude Pecker from the Rationalist Union, who debunked the book in Le crépuscule des Magiciens (1965); "The Twilight of the Magicians"),Pauwels and Bergier went on to pursue their interest in the paranormal in the magazine Planète, dedicated to what they termed réalisme fantastique (fantastic realism). Both The Morning of the Magicians and the Planète magazine had considerable influence on the esotericism of the 1960s–1970s counterculture, heralding the popularization of New Age ideas. (en)
