Die Artikel in Advances in Optics and Photonics erscheinen vorab ausgabenunabhängig; die Zeitschriftenausgaben erscheinen vierteljährlich. Der thematische Bereich der Artikel in Advances in Optics and Photonics umfasst alle Bereiche von Optik und Photonik; die Zeitschrift veröffentlicht jedoch keine originären Resultate, sondern ausschließlich Übersichtsartikel und Tutorials.
