- Quarzsandhandschuhe, auch als schlagkraftverstärkende Handschuhe bekannt, kurz Schlaghandschuh, sind Handschuhe, die am Handrücken und im Bereich der Knöchel mit Protektoren aus feinem Quarzsand, seltener auch aus Bleistaub, versehen sind. Oft sind sie zusätzlich mit einer schnitthemmenden Einlage aus Kevlar ausgestattet. Durch die Sandfüllung schützen die Handschuhe die Hände vor Schnittverletzungen (etwa bei Messerangriffen). Außerdem wirken – ähnlich wie beim Einsatz von Schlagringen – Faustschläge, die mit solchen Handschuhen erfolgen, deutlich stärker. Medienberichten zufolge sind Quarzsandhandschuhe in Deutschland vor allem unter Türstehern und Polizisten, aber auch unter Hooligans und in der rechts- und linksradikalen Szene beliebt. Obwohl der Einsatz von Quarzsandhandschuhen durch Polizisten im Allgemeinen verboten ist, da sie keine offiziell genehmigten Ausrüstungsgegenstände sind und unverhältnismäßige Verletzungen verursachen können, gab der Vorsitzende einer Polizeigewerkschaft im Dezember 2008 an, dass viele Polizisten sie seit Jahren benutzten. Der vormalige Polizeipräsident in Berlin, Dieter Glietsch, bezeichnete den Fund von Quarzsandhandschuhen bei 12 von 30 Angehörigen eines Polizeizuges im Herbst 2008 als „Skandal“ und die Handschuhe selbst als „Waffe“. Quarzsandhandschuhe werden meist von Angehörigen der Bereitschaftspolizei eingesetzt, während polizeiliche Spezialeinheiten in der Regel über spezielle Einsatz- und Abseilhandschuhe, oft mit Schaumstoffprotektoren, verfügen. - I sap gloves (colloquialmente detti guanti da combattimento o guanti pesanti) sono un'arma non letale che consiste in guanti in cuoio, kevlar o altri materiali sintetici riempiti di piombo o acciaio sulle nocche e sul dorso della mano. Il nome viene dal termine inglese sap, che indica una sacca riempita di sabbia, sferette d'acciaio o simili utilizzata come arma contundente. Rispetto al tirapugni, che restringe la superficie dell'impatto e frappone una superficie dura fra la mano e il bersaglio, quest'oggetto rende il pugno più pesante, aumentando il danno, e protegge la mano dai danni, offrendo inoltre una certa libertà alle dita. I sap gloves possono essere utilizzati da buttafuori e guardie in contesti in cui armi pericolose non sono concesse. (it)

They consist of a pair of ordinary looking gloves usually made of leather or a synthetic material, with powdered lead or steel sewn into a special pouch covering the knuckles, and often the backs of the fingers and the back of the hand. In some designs, this distinctive feature is obvious, while in others it is almost completely indistinguishable from an ordinary glove, allowing the gloves to be worn in plain sight without suspicion. Such gloves are primarily used by security guards and by bouncers and other security professionals where physical combat is expected, protecting the user's hands and increasing the impulse created when punching.
