Buku yang terbit pada tahun 2008 ini masuk dalam daftar buku terlaris New York Times. The Last Lecture berisi kuliah terakhir yang disampaikan oleh Pausch pada 18 September 2007 berjudul "Benar-benar mencapai impian masa kecil Anda (really achieving your childhood dreams)". Pausch yang telah didiagnosis menderita kanker pankreas stadium akhir, menyampaikan kuliah terakhirnya yang berisi tentang hal-hal terpenting dalam hidupnya, seperti impian masa kecilnya, mewujudkan impian tersebut, dan mewujudkan impian orang lain. Kuliah ini lalu direkam dan diunggah ke Youtube dan dibukukan dalam The Last Lecture yang terbit pada April 2008. Pausch akhirnya meninggal akibat komplikasi kanker pada 28 Juli 2008. The Last Lecture meraih sukses secara komersial dengan menjadi buku terlaris New York Times pada 2008, dan tetap ada dalam daftar terlaris selama 112 minggu hingga musim panas 2011.
