- El Tarot Sola-Busca és el tarot de 78 cartes més antic que es coneix. Fou creat per un artista desconegut i gravat en metall a finals del segle xv. La família Sola-Busca de Milà feu donació al Museu Britànic, el 1907, de les fotografies de la versió completa de la baralla. Gràcies a aquest fet l'acadèmic , curador d'antigues impressions mestres, pogué comparar la versió en color de la família Sola-Busca amb les cartes conservades al propi museu, una versió impresa comprada per aquesta institució el 1845. - Der Sola-Busca-Tarot ist ein Tarotspiel aus dem späten 15. Jahrhundert. Es wurde von einem unbekannten Künstler, wobei man unter anderem als Autor annimmt, hergestellt. Ein vollständiges und koloriertes Spiel befand sich im Besitz der Familie Sola-Busca in Mailand und wurde 2009 an das italienische Kultusministerium verkauft. Es befindet sich nun im Pinacoteca di Brera in Mailand. Nicht-kolorierte nur fragmentarisch vorhandene Drucke sind in Wien und in der British Library. Das Sola-Busca-Spiel ist das erste bekannte Tarotspiel der Geschichte, das die heute als klassisch geltende Struktur mit 78 Karten aufweist (22 Trümpfe und jeweils 4 mal 14 Farbkarten). Ebenfalls ist es der erste bekannte Tarot, bei dem die Trümpfe Namen tragen und nummeriert sind. Die Bezeichnungen und Darstellungen der Karten weichen von den heutigen ab – so stellt der Sola-Busca-Tarot historische Personen dar, unter anderem Nebukadnezar oder Marius, den Onkel von Julius Cäsar. Die Karten der Trümpfe scheinen den Aufstieg und den Fall des Römischen Reiches zu illustrieren. Ebenfalls ist es das erste Tarotspiel, und bis zum Spiel von Pamela Colman Smith und Arthur Edward Waite aus dem 19. Jahrhundert auch das einzige, das die Zahlkarten szenisch illustriert. Parallelen zwischen den Karten des Sola-Busca- und des Waite-Smith-Tarots lassen vermuten, dass Pamela Colman Smith und Arthur Edward Waite das Sola-Busca-Tarot gekannt und sich von ihm haben beeinflussen lassen. Die Sola-Busca-Version wurde 1907 für die British Library fotografiert und von Arthur M. Hind 1938 in Early Italian engraving: a critical catalogue with complete reproduction of all the prints described, London 1938–1948, volume 1, dargestellt. Eine Vollversion von Sola-Busca-Tarot wurde 1998 von Wolfgang Mayer in Deutschland aufgelegt. (de)

It is also the earliest tarot deck in which all the plain suit cards are illustrated and it is also the earliest tarot deck in which the trump card illustrations deviate from the classic tarot iconography. Unlike the earlier Visconti-Sforza tarot decks, the cards of the Sola Busca are numbered. The Trump cards have Roman numerals while the pips of the plain suits have Hindu Arabic numerals.The deck was created by an unknown artist and engraved onto metal in the late 15th century. A single complete hand-painted deck is known to exist, along with 35 uncolored cards held by various museums. The deck is notable not only for its age, but also for the quality of its artwork, which is characterized by expressive figures engraved with precise contours and shading. Various theories have been suggested about who created the deck, but its authorship remains uncertain. (en)
