Durante su reinado, gobernó con su hijo Mircea III en el año 1509. Fue un gobernante impopular entre los boyardos valacos, que lo derrocaron con ayuda otomana, obligándole a huir y refugiarse en Transilvania, donde fue asesinado frente a la catedral de Sibiu y fue enterrado en el interior. During his reign, he ruled alongside his son Mircea III Dracul in the year 1509. Unpopular among the boyars, he was overthrown with Ottoman assistance, prompting him to take refuge in Transylvania – where he was to be murdered in front of the Sibiu Cathedral, being buried inside the church. Hij was vorst van Walachije van 1508 tot 1509 als opvolger van zijn neef . In 1509 regeerde hij samen met zijn zoon Mircea III Dracul. Hij was zeer onpopulair onder de edelen (bojaren) en werd met behulp van de Ottomanen omvergeworpen en moest vervolgens vluchten naar Transsylvanië, waar hij uiteindelijk werd vermoord voor de kathedraal van Sibiu en er ook werd begraven. Objął tron wołoski po śmierci uzależnionego od Turcji i możnego rodu bojarskiego Craiovești Radu IV Wielkiego, korzystając z poparcia tych samych protektorów. Po objęciu tronu jednak zdecydował się zmienić orientację polityczną, zwracając się w kierunku Węgier, co spowodowało zdetronizowanie staraniem bojarów Craioveşti i zmusiło do ucieczki do Siedmiogrodu, gdzie został wkrótce zamordowany. Został pochowany w katedrze w Sybinie. Jego synem był hospodar wołoski Mircza III. (pl)
