- The International Year of Crystallography (abbreviation: IYCr2014) is an event promoted in the year 2014 by the United Nations to celebrate the centenary of the discovery of X-ray crystallography and to emphasise the global importance of crystallography in human life. UNESCO and the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) are responsible for this event. The opening ceremony of the International Year of Crystallography was held in Paris on 20 and 21 January 2014. Many activities will follow to celebrate the International Year of Crystallography all over the world. The event drew the attention of the BBC and the Spanish newspaper El País. (en)
- L'anno internazionale della cristallografia (International Year of Crystallography o anche IYCr2014) è il termine con il quale è stato indicato il 2014 dall'ONU ed è stato dichiarato per celebrare il centenario della nascita della cristallografia a raggi X e per evidenziare il ruolo della cristallografia nel miglioramento delle condizioni di vita dell'umanità dal momento che è relativamente poco conosciuta al pubblico generalista nonostante sia alla base di molte branche della scienza moderna. L'evento è patrocinato dall'UNESCO e dall'Unione internazionale di cristallografia. In Italia l'anno verrà celebrato con mostre, eventi e conferenze che possono essere consultati visitando il sito www.iycr2014.it.
