- Urinetown is een van oorsprong Amerikaanse, satirische komische musical uit 2001 met liedteksten van en , muziek van Mark Hollmann en scenario van Greg Kotis. Naast de komische uitwerking van het scenario en de liedjes bevat de musical talloze verwijzingen naar bestaande musicals, zoals Chicago, West Side Story en vooral Les Misérables. Het oorspronkelijke idee voor deze musical is ontstaan toen Greg Kotis als student in de jaren 90 door Europa trok en merkte dat het in Europa gebruikelijk is om te betalen voor het gebruik van openbare toiletten. In 2009 was de musical voor het eerst te zien in Nederland, in het eigen theater van producent M-Lab in Amsterdam. Van 15 oktober 2010 t/m 13 maart 2011, was de productie opnieuw in Nederland te zien, echter nu in 60 theaters in het gehele land. (nl)
- Pinkelstadt (englischer Originaltitel: Urinetown) ist ein Musical. Musik und Liedtexte stammen von , das Buch dazu und weitere Liedtexte verfasste . Die Uraufführung fand am 1. April 2001 im American Theatre of Actors (Chernuchin Theatre), einer Off-Broadway-Bühne, statt. Danach übersiedelte das Stück an das , wo die offizielle Premiere am 20. September 2001 stattfand (das Theater hat 950 Plätze und ist somit eine der kleinsten Broadway-Bühnen). Mit 965 Aufführungen lief Pinkelstadt bis zum 18. Januar 2004 über mehr als zwei Jahre. Das Musical belegte damit die längste Laufzeit in der Geschichte dieses Theaters. Pinkelstadt gewann drei Tony Awards, unter anderem für die beste Originalmusik. (de)

Musikalen handlar om en stad där vattenbristen är så allvarlig att allmänheten är tvungen att använda offentliga toaletter istället för privata och således betala för sina toalettbesök. Företaget Urine Good Company har monopol på de offentliga toaletterna. Kampen för frihet och demokrati, med musikalens hjälte i spetsen, börjar och det är utgångsläget för historien. (sv)
