Ukraine originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "Siren Song" written by Hanna Korsun and Mikhail Busin. The song was performed by Maruv, which is the artistic name of singer Hanna Korsun. The Ukrainian broadcaster National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA:PBC) organised a national final in collaboration with commercial broadcaster STB in order to select the Ukrainian entry for the 2019 contest in Tel Aviv, Israel. The national selection consisted of two semi-finals, held on 9 and 16 February 2019, and a final, held on 23 February 2019; eight entries competed in each semi-final with the top three from each semi-final advancing to the final.
