UGC 4879, which is also known as VV 124, is the most isolated dwarf galaxy in the periphery of the Local Group. It is an irregular galaxy at a distance of 1.38 Mpc. Low-resolution spectroscopy yielded inconsistent radial velocities for different components of the galaxy, hinting at the presence of a stellar disk. There is also evidence of this galaxy containing dark matter.

Galaktyka ta jest członkiem Grupy Lokalnej i leży na jej obrzeżach. Jest galaktyką samotną – od najbliższej galaktyki Leo A dzieli ją około 2,3 miliona lat świetlnych. Średnica UGC 4879 wynosi około 2200 lat świetlnych. Pierwsza wzmianka o tej galaktyce pochodzi z katalogu B.A. Woroncowa-Wieliaminowa z 1959 roku. (pl)

- UGC 4879 è una galassia nana irregolare, isolata, situata in direzione della costellazione dell'Orsa Maggiore alla distanza di circa 4 milioni di anni luce. La spettroscopia a bassa risoluzione ha fornito velocità contrastanti per le varie componenti della galassia, suggerendo pertanto la presenza di un disco circumstellare. Vi è anche l'evidenza della presenza di materia oscura. Il suo vicino più prossimo è la galassia Leo A che si trova ad una distanza di 1,6 milioni di anni luce. (it)
