The Commission on the Naming of Items of the Department of Defense that Commemorate the Confederate States of America or Any Person Who Served Voluntarily with the Confederate States of America, more commonly referred to as The Naming Commission, was a United States government commission created by the United States Congress in 2021 in order to rename military assets with names associated with the Confederate States of America. The Naming Commission was mandated by Section 370 of the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (NDAA), enacted on January 1, 2021.
