Sergey Ivanovich Iovlev (Russian: Сергей Иванович Иовлев; 30 September 1899 – May 1979) was a Red Army major general. After rising to junior command positions during the Russian Civil War, Iovlev spent most of the 1920s and 1930s with the Soviet Border Troops. Decorated for his performance as a regimental commander during the Winter War, he commanded the in Belarus when Operation Barbarossa began. Iovlev escaped from encirclement and commanded several divisions in the Battle of Moscow and after being relieved of command of the in late 1942 was sent behind German lines to lead partisans. In early 1943 he became commander of the 215th Rifle Division, and in early 1944 was sent to complete a course.
