Innerhalb der deutschen Staatsrechtslehre und Rechtstheorie hat er sich vor allem durch seine von Ronald Dworkin inspirierte Unterscheidung zwischen Regeln und Prinzipien und seine von Habermas beeinflussten Beiträge zur Diskurstheorie des Rechts einen Namen gemacht. International ist Alexy in erster Linie als Vertreter eines moralische Grundsätze einschließenden Rechtsbegriffs auf Basis der Radbruch’schen Formel und als Kritiker des Rechtspositivismus in Erscheinung getreten. - Robert Alexy, född 1945, är en tysk rättsteoretiker. 1978 publicerades Robert Alexys doktorsavhandling Theorie der juristischen Argumentation. År 2005 publicerades hans bok Begriff und Geltung des Rechts på svenska med titeln Rätten och rättvisan. Av förordet till denna svenska översättning framkommer att Alexy då var professor i offentlig rätt och rättsfilosofi vid Christian-Albrechts-Universität i Kiel. (sv)
- Robert Alexy (born 9 September 1945 in Oldenburg, Germany) is a jurist and a legal philosopher. Alexy studied law and philosophy at the University of Göttingen. He received his J.D. in 1976 with the dissertation A Theory of Legal Argumentation, and he achieved his Habilitation in 1984 with a Theory of Constitutional Rights. He is a professor at the University of Kiel and in 2002 he was appointed to the Academy of Sciences and Humanities at the University of Göttingen. In 2010 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. (en)
