Awalnya Marado direncanakan masuk layanan 2010. Namun karena krisis ekonomi tahun 2008, kapal kedua kapal serbu amfibi kelas Dokdo dibatalkan. Pada tahun 2012 anggaran dikembalikan setelah meningkatnya ketegangan di daerah. (in)
