Paphinia, abbreviated in horticultural trade Pna, is a genus of orchids, composed of an estimated 16 species from Central America, northern South America and Trinidad. These species are medium-sized epiphytes with small ovoid pseudobulbs and 2 or more leaves. The generic name comes from the Greek Paphia, the name of Aphrodite of Cyprus. Most authorities consider the genus rare. Species accepted as of June 2014: Hybrids include:

Des études ADN récentes ont démontré que les Paphinia sont proches d’un point de vue phylogénétique des genres , , et Stanhopea tous classés dans la sous-tribu des Stanhopeinae (tribu Maxillarieae). Les fleurs de ce genre sont réputées pour être particulièrement grandes, compte tenu de la taille moyenne des plantes. Elles peuvent ainsi atteindre une vingtaine de centimètres de diamètre chez certaines espèces. Elles n’émettent généralement pas de parfum perceptible par l’homme.Les abeilles de la tribu des Euglossini sont à ce jour les seuls pollinisateurs connus. (fr)
