Operation Laser is a domestic operation of the Canadian Armed Forces for contingency planning and response in the event of a pandemic.   • L'opération Laser constitue la réponse des Forces armées canadiennes (FAC) pendant la pandémie de Covid-19 au Canada. Il s'agit de l'activation de la deuxième phase du plan de contingence du Canada, intitulé CONPLAN LASER, pour la réponse à une pandémie de grippe. La phase 2 a été activée le 2 mars 2020 et la phase 3 le 13 mars 2020. Des navires ont été maintenus en mer et mis en quarantaine sur la côte Pacifique : NCSM Regina, NCSM Brandon, NCSM Nanaimo, NCSM Whitehorse et NCSM Calgary. Le NCSM Calgary devait naviguer le 6 avril pour les eaux de l'Asie-Pacifique dans le cadre de l'opération Projection mais ce déploiement a été reporté. Les FAC ont aussi retardé certains déploiements outre-mer pendant la pandémie. (fr)

During the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada Operation Laser was first activated on March 2, 2020; with escalation to Phase 3 of the operation on March 13. Under Operation Laser, military medical personnel and resources were deployed to certain long-term care facilities in Quebec and Ontario to assist with operating those facilities. These deployments were authorized by the Department of National Defence at the request of those provinces' premiers, François Legault and Doug Ford. (en)
