Louis Dudek, OC (February 6, 1918 – March 23, 2001) was a Canadian poet, academic, and publisher known for his role in defining Modernism in poetry, and for his literary criticism. He was the author of over two dozen books. In A Digital History of Canadian Poetry, writer Heather Prycz said that "As a critic, teacher and theoretician, Dudek influenced the teaching of Canadian poetry in most [Canadian] schools and universities".

Studoval na montréalské McGillově universitě, kterou v roce 1939 úspěšně dokončil získáním titulu B.A. Později studoval na newyorské Columbia University, kde získal titul PhD. a začal se věnovat pedagogické činnosti a psaní básní. Od konce čtyřicátých let si dopisoval s básníkem Ezrou Poundem, který na něj měl značný vliv a se kterým se také později osobně setkal. Od roku 1951 Dudek vyučoval na McGillově universitě. Zemřel v roce 2001 ve věku 83 let. Jeho synem je informatik . März 2001 ebenda) war ein kanadischer Dichter, Hochschullehrer, Essayist und Literaturkritiker. Er gilt als wegweisender Begründer der Moderne in Kanada. Zu seinen Hauptwerken zählen „Zembla’s Rocks“ (1986), „Infinite Worlds“ (1988), „Europe“ (1954/1991), „The Caged Tiger“ (1997), The „Poetry of Louis Dudek – Definitive Edition“ (1998) und „The Surface of Time“ (2000). Die meisten seiner Schriften werden heute in der Kanadischen Nationalbibliothek aufbewahrt. 2006 wurde eine Auswahl seiner Gedichte ins Deutsche übersetzt und veröffentlicht. (de)
