The Leyland Retriever was a 6x4 truck produced by Leyland Motors for the British Army between 1939 and 1945. It had a 6-litre, 4 cylinder overhead camshaft petrol engine. General Montgomery used one as his caravan during the Second World War. This is now on display at now the Imperial War Museum Duxford. In 1940, Leyland developed the Leyland Beaver-Eel armoured truck by mounting an armoured body on the Leyland Retriever.

Il primo caravan utilizzato dal generale Montgomery in Nord Africa era stato realizzato con il telaio di questo autocarro sul quale venne montata la roulotte che era stata assegnata al Generale Annibale Bergonzoli, allora comandante del XXIII° Corpo d'Armata, che era stato preso prigioniero a Beda Fomm nel febbraio del 1941. Questo veicolo è oggi conservato presso l'Imperial War Museum di Duxford. Nel 1940 la Leyland sviluppò il Leyland Beaver-Eel montando una carrozzeria corazzata sul telaio del camion Retriever. (it)
