| - La suma térmica, ST (acrónimo en inglés: GDD) es una herramienta heurística en fenología. GDD se usa en horticultura y en jardinería para predecir la fecha donde una flor pasa a enfrutar o cuando alcanza un cultivo la madurez fisiológica. En ausencia de condiciones extremas tales como sequías desestacionales o enfermedades, las plantas crecen acumulando en etapas fuertemente influenciadas por la Tº ambiental. Las sumas térmicas contienen aspectos del tiempo local permitiendo predecir cuándo las plantas avanzarán hacia la madurez. (es)

Виділяють суму температур більшу 5 °C, більшу 10 °C або більше біологічного мінімуму температури, необхідної для розвитку певної рослини. Ця сума підраховується як сума середньодобових температур повітря за весь період, поки ці температури перевищують визначене значення.
