Le sous-marin fut commandé le 6 août 1940 à Dantzig (Schichau-Werke), sa quille fut posée le 1er juillet 1941, il fut lancé le 30 avril 1942 et mis en service le 11 juillet 1942, sous le commandement de l'Oberleutnant zur See Friedrich-Wilhelm Bothe. L'U-447 n'endommagea ou ne coula aucun navire au cours des 2 patrouilles (44 jours en mer) qu'il effectua. Le sous-marin participa à trois Rudeltaktik. Il fut coulé au large de Gibraltar en mai 1943. (fr) L'U-447 (Unterseeboot 447) fu un U-Boot di tipo VII C in servizio nella Marina da guerra tedesca durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Entrato in servizio nel 1942, venne affondato l'anno successivo da aerei inglesi. (it) Unterseeboot 447 foi um submarino alemão do Tipo VIIC, pertencente a Kriegsmarine que atuou durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. O U-447 esteve em operação entre os anos de 1942 e 1943, realizando neste período duas , nas quais não afundou nenhuma embarcação aliada. Foi afundado por cargas de profundidade lançadas por duas aeronaves britânicas Hudson (233 Sqdn.) no dia 7 de maio de 1943, causando a morte de todos os 48 tripulantes. Човен був закладений на верфі суднобудівної компанії «F.Schichau GmbH» у Данцигу 1 липня 1941 року під заводським номером 1507, спущений на воду 30 квітня 1942 року, 11 липня 1942 року увійшов до складу 8-ї флотилії.
