Clovis Hugues (November 3, 1851 – June 11, 1907) was a French poet, journalist, dramatist, novelist, and socialist activist. He wrote some of his works in Provençal and un 1898 was elected a majoral of the Félibrige, a society for the promotion of the Occitan language and culture.

Il est l'époux de la sculptrice Jeanne Royannez (1855-1932). (fr) Clovis Hugues (Ménerbes, Valclusa, 3 de novembre de 1851 - París, 12 de juny de 1907) fou un poeta i polític francès. La seva muller Jeanne es dedicà amb força èxit a l'escultura, i se li deu un bust del seu marit i una estàtua titulada L'abandó (1888). El 1884, aquesta va matar a trets en els passadissos del Palau de Justícia el director d'una agència d'informació que la perseguia amb les seves difamacions. L'any següent fou absolta. El 1889 l'Acadèmia Francesa premià una col·lecció de les seves peces amb 2.000 francs. (ca) Clovis Hugues, född den 3 november 1851 i Ménerbes, departementet Vaucluse, död den 11 juni 1907 i Paris, var en fransk skald och politiker. Han var gift med Jeanne Royannez. Hugues ägnade sig efter avslutade skolstudier i ett teologiskt seminarium åt tidningsmannaskap, medarbetade från 1870 i en radikal Marseilletidning, där hans våldsamma språk ådrog honom ett treårigt fängelsestraff. År 1877 dödade han i duell den bonapartistiske redaktören för "L'aigle", men frikändes av juryn. År 1881 invaldes han av Marseille i deputeradekammaren, där han slöt sig till yttersta vänstern, övergick 1888 till boulangisterna och ivrade för en författningsrevision. Efter att 1889 ha avstått från sitt mandat invaldes Hugues 1893 ånyo som socialistisk deputerad för Paris. Hugues publicerade ett flertal dikt (sv)
