It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Cewice. It lies approximately 13 kilometres (8 mi) south of Lębork and 59 km (37 mi) west of the regional capital Gdańsk. Miejscowość jest siedzibą gminy Cewice. Na zachód od Cewic przebiegała trasa nieczynnej linii kolejowej nr 237 Lębork-Bytów. Miejscowość obsługiwana była przez znajdującą się w niedalekim Kamieńcu stację kolejową. W pobliskich Siemirowicach znajduje się lotnisko wojskowe.
