| - Bristol Type 171 Sycamore byl první britský vrtulník, který byl zaveden do služby u britského letectva (Royal Air Force). Byl to pětimístný vrtulník klasické koncepce s jedním hlavním a jedním ocasním rotorem, vyrobila jej společnost Bristol Aeroplane Company. Sloužil jako záchranný a také jako protiponorkový stroj. Název Sycamore znamená v češtině „javor klen“, jehož semena s vrtulkou rotují, když se snášejí k zemi. (cs)

The name refers to the seeds of the sycamore tree, Acer pseudoplatanus, which fall with a rotating motion. It has the distinction of being the first British helicopter to receive a certificate of airworthiness, as well as being the first British-designed helicopter to be introduced by and to serve with the Royal Air Force (RAF). Het was de eerste Britse helikopter die een luchtwaardigheidscertificaat heeft ontvangen en de eerste die in dienst kwam bij de Royal Air Force (RAF). In 1959 werd de productie van de Sycamore gestaakt. In totaal zijn er zo'n 180 stuks van gemaakt. (nl)
